July 28thClearing up is still going on, and no doubt will be for some time yet. German television interviewed Peter Bellamy, Chairman of Upton in Bloom about the town's entry in Britain in Bloom, which is being judged on 3rd August. MHDC staff are cleaning up the mud as the water retreats - and there is a lot of it to clear. Three young gentlement went from the Old Fire Station to Dunns Lane to help move some heavy electrical equipment out of a flooded house to the roadside for collection by MHDC. The Environment Agency had a couple of large pumps spare so they are on East Waterside pumping water back into the river. The local Firemen are pumping water out of cellars. I don't have pictures of everything going on, but do think acts of kindness are worth mentioning. |
