23rd   We moved the riverside tubs - again! This time it was for the continental market. Previously we moved them for Folk, Jazz & Blues Festivals. They will go back on the 25th. Next month they will be moved for Water Festival

The barrier and lamp post baskets were installed on the riverfront last week. They are well worth a visit!

    Upton Primary School 'Grow their own' raised vegetable beds
30th   During the previous week we cleared the smaller tubs at the Surgery, Old Churchyard, the bridge & New Street. We planted them with Summer plants today. The display boats and riverside tubs will be cleared this week, ready for planting on Saturday 6th. If you would like to help with the planting, please ring Jackie on 592336

11th   We emptied the barrier baskets opposite the Swan. These had been planted for Winter & Spring by the landlord. The Polyanthus have gone to the Parish Church and ivies have been planted along the back of two display boats.

We have a display in a shop in Old Street, which is to let by John Goodwin Estate Agents.

We moved the riverside tubs into storage to make room for the stalls at the Folk Festival.

RHS Britain in Bloom celebrates 45 years with a fresh new face. Press release from the Royal Horticultural Society.

20th  

Malcolm Brown, Tree Warden, lead a group, including children from Upton Primary School, in planting shrubs & trees on East Waterside.

Hanley Castle High School students picked 5 bags of litter, some plastic crates and a chair today.

14th   Our second Table Top Sale was very successful, with 15 tables filled with all sorts of goods.
5th   Matthew Wilson, RHS Head of Gardens Creative Development, gave a talk in the Memorial Hall.

We planted tulips and cleared the dead plants from on top of the public conveniences in Lower High Street

23rd   Pupils from Hanley Castle High School started their weekly litter picking around the town.

8th   We planted daffodil bulbs at the bottom of Rectory Road, and finished off a small bed beside the gates at the back of the Kings Head.
November    
26th   We held a very successful Pudding Evening at The Swan. Many thanks to all the local public houses, hotels, cafes & individuals who contributed puddings, and special thanks to Ralph & Sue for hosting the event at The Swan. Pictures
16th-22nd   We moved the riverside tubs back. The tubs have now been planted with pansies for the Winter. Three tubs have Cyclamen in them. These were planted last year, and left in place during the Summer. We moved all the remaining ones into the three tubs. Weeding along the riverfront continued. The bed on the right hand side of the Kings Head gates was tidied.
15th   We attended a Charity Fair in Malvern, selling containers of plant arrangements.
10th   The Environment Agency moved the riverside tubs to safety in anticipation of the barriers going up between the Kings Head & The Plough, for which many thanks.
8th  

Planted pansies in Hanley Road, Marina & Old Churchyard boats, and tubs at either end of the bridge. Several youths helped us by taking bags of Greengrow out of Sylvia's truck and emptying them into the boat on the Old Churchyard and many thanks to them, and the lady who helped Rosemary& Jackie pull the truck to the OC from New Street.

We received a donation of Greengrow from Severn Waste Services, for which many thanks. Thanks also to the gentlemen at the Recycling Centre and the delivery driver for helping offload the bags.

6th  

The barrier baskets were removed from the disabled area & Old Bridge Abutment yesterday by Brian from Earls Croome Garden Centre. Plants were cleared from the ones alongside the Swan. Today Brian removed all our hanging baskets, apart from the ones at the White Lion Hotel.

31st  

We held a BBQ at the Tudor House Museum to celebrate the end of the festival season. Members of the Folk, Jazz and, Water Festival Committees and the Marching Band & Youth Band came to a wind-down session.

Emptied all plants except for geraniums from display boats.

26th   Weeded Sensory Garden and large bed. Deadheaded displays
25th   Emptied boats and troughs near the Fire Station and Severn Drive/Gardens Walk corner. Tidied the round bed on School Lane/Minge Lane corner.
23rd/24th   Weeded along riverside and layby opposite the Plough. Deadheaded barrier baskets, riverside tubs
22nd   Weeded alongside Kings Head patio wall/Old Bridge Abutment and alongside Old Bridge Abutment
