Following weeks of hot, sunny weather, judging day dawned with rain
falling. However, this didn't last too long and by the time the judges,
Robin Russell and Angela Pendleton, arrived the rain had stopped. They
were met by the Mayor Cllr Andrea Morgan and District Councillor Mike
Morgan as well as members of the Committee. Robin & Angela were
taken on a tour of the Town and met members of the Committee and the
public. The Cemetery Chapel had been filled with flowers. (The Chapel
will be open on Sunday from 2-4pm if you want to see the flowers.) At
the Primary School members of the 'Big Eco Garden Club' showed off their
vegetables grown in raised beds. The tour finished at the Old Churchyard
where the Town flags were flying and a lot of people were there to welcome
the judges. Robin and Angela judged the 'Unusual container' competition.
The containers included a coffee maker, a Tesco shopping bag, a flower
bed, a shoe and a bag. We then adjourned to the Tudor House Museum for
a buffet supplied by local hostelries - and it was superb! Thank you
to everyone who helped prepare for judging and who took part on the
day - we couldn't have done it without you.
