Upton in Bloom

Wildflower Walk

Behind the Recycling Centre in Hanley Road car park we are developing a wildflower walk. Over the last two years the area has been left to grow naturally and the wildflowers growing there identified. Nearly 20 different varieties were noted. In September 2009, we added another eleven varieties. We will also be sowing seeds of Yellow Rattle. Yellow Rattle is an attractive, semi-parasitic, grassland annual which produces a better display of wild flowers and eases the mowing required.
