Litter Picking

On February 13th 2012 we removed years of litter from Stocks Yatt Meadow. Apart from cans and bottles, we also found traffic cones, a broken shovel, two 5-gallon plastic containers, a 'hoodie', trainers and a pair of gloves. On Thursday 16th we returned to remove a large television and a tyre from one of the streams, and more traffic cones and other rubbish deeply embedded in the brambles.

We actually found 3 tyres, the television and half a door in the stream. A total of 15 bags of rubbish, 7 traffic and 1 Police 'No waiting' cones and a 5-gallon container of tar. MHDC have offered to remove the rubbish.

On 25th February we litter picked in the Sports Field along the Old Road side. More bags of rubbish, and a television tube was found under one of the bridges. We find it incomprehensible that dog owners take the trouble to bag their dogs mess and then throw the bag away! There were more of these bags than any other litter.
