March 15th 2008A successful litter pick with volunteers, Community Support Officers and pupils from Hanley Castle High School taking part. The collection by the pupils included a tent! Mercia Rescue provided a boat and Peter & Diane litter picked on the river banks. They found an almost new tarpaulin, a ladder and some large planks of wood. Every piece of 5 black bin bags was plastic waste of some kind, all retrieved from the waterside trees and bushes. It reinforces our 'Plastic Bag Free' message, use alternatives, the single use bags are just a blot on our lovely landscape! |
