Display in the Old ChurchyardThe main flower bed is commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Evacuation of Dunkirk at which Admiral Sir William Tennant was Beachmaster. Sir William's bust was erected after a public appeal. The anchor of blue lobelia representing the boats is surrounded by clumps of white alyssum which convey the bubbles created by the bombs dropping into the sea. The boats on the Old Churchyard are filled with upright marigolds, these denote the troops packed into the little vessels.
