PITT family: I am looking for links with Daniel PITT born Oct 17, 1879 at Powick, father George PITT, a farm labourer of Sand Pits, Powick, and Matilda PITT (nee LEE I believe) in District Register of Upton within the Sub District of Hanley Castle. Also the marriage of Daniel PITT, a gardener, to Alice ROSE of St John's, Worcester (father Joseph ROSE a labourer) at St Peter's Church, Powick on November 30th 1907, conducted by the chaplain of Powick Asylum. Witnesses were Alfred HARRIS and Ameilia JOHNSON and Ellen ROBERTS. Daniel PITT died on February 17th 1951 at 1, Council Houses, Dilmore Lane, Fernhill Heath aged 71, a gardener in domestic service; present at his death was his daughter D. M. MASTERS of the same address. I have a record of the death of Alice PITT (nee ROSE) on December 31st 1945 of the address in Dilmore Lane, aged 62, wife of Daniel PITT with D. M. Masters of Sandford Yard, Severn Stoke as informant. There is a gravestone bearing the name PITT in the cemetary at Claines Parish Church. The PITT family have strong connections with both Claines and Powick. Current relative is Nancy Bateman (nee PITT) married to Ronald Bateman, a builder and former publican, now living in Loughborough. Her brother: James H. PITT, Stoker 2nd Class P/KX 95670 was one of the entire ship's crew of HMS Exmouth sunk in the Moray Firth in 1940 by enemy action.

My great-grandmother, PHOEBE WOOLLAMS is listed in the 1881 Census as being a scholar aged 14 at the Industrial School at Madresfield. Can anyone please tell me:
a. What industry the scholars would have been destined to work in.
b. Was it a charitable organisation or funded by the employer?
c. Would she have been selected to be a scholar because of a particular aptitude?
d. How long would she have stayed?
e. Do any records of this establishment exist?
I would also welcome any information relating to PHOEBE's family (born Pershore c. 1867 and that of her husband JAMES CLARKE also born Pershore in 1866. They were married at Pershore sometime in 1886. Had a son William bn c.1887 and moved to Hednesford, Staffs c.1890 where James was employed as a coalminer (he subsequently dies from a colliery accident in 1923). If someone could look up the parents names etc. from the marriage register it would me much appreciated. Thanks, John Bennett john-bennett@ntlworld.com

I am looking for information about the HALL family which mostly seem to come from Hanley Castle area (Wood Farm & Welland Lodge) but also thought to have lived in Upton - also connected to GUILDINGS of Bushley Park - and connection with Hills - but details of this link unknown. Transcript from Bushley Almanac. Any information or leads most appreciated! Gary Wilson, Brisbane, Australia

My Grandmother's grand father was the John GUILDING mentioned in the Bushley Almanac 1876. He was born in Quedgley and was married to Emma LORD 1843 from Bushley. They had 7 children: John c.1844; Lansdown c.1846; Clarissa c.1848; Elizabeth c.1850; Henry 1852; Ada c.1856 and Richard c.1861 who was my grandmother's father (who married Augusta
Martin). They were all born at Bushley Park as was my grandmother Freda and her elder sister Clarissa. Emma's father was Richard Lord married to Hannah BATEMAN. I am interested in any GUILDING from Quedgley, LORD from Bushley and
BAYLIS and HEADLEY from Birmingham. PS Could you tell me anything more about the Bushley Almanac?
