Results of Stop & Search Operation in Upton Upon Severn on 23rd April 2008

Joint agency approach with West Mercia Police, VOSA, Environmental Agency, Wychavon District Council and Malvern Hills District Council

29 vehicles stopped by Police ANPR team

2 people arrested - 1 for possession of a Class A drug, 1 for giving false details

5 cars and 1 motorbike seized for drivers not having either insurance or tax

2 drivers had FPN's and 3 points on licence for using mobile telephone while driving

1 driver had FPN for not wearing a seat belt

9 vehicles had mechanical defects and were given prohibition notices by VOSA

3 drivers did not have waste carriers licences and told to obtain one within 7 days by Environmental Agency

2 drivers given FPN's for not having MOT

1 driver received FPN for having wrong size number plate

1 driver ran off when stopped, he was caught and received summons for not having valid licence, tax and insurance, already has 21 points on provisional licence
