Bridge PaintingOn 28th September 2011 it was announced that Upton bridge would be painted in Duchess Blue, with gold. This was as a result of a public consultation where residents were invited to choose from 5 colours. Work commenced erecting the scaffolding on 29th September. One carriageway was closed early in the first week. The bridge has to be encapsulated to prevent any old paint falling onto the banks or into the river. On 10th October scaffolding was being erected on the Town side of the bridge. The footpaths over the bridge are being replaced. On 11th October work commenced stripping them back to the bare metal. |
