Public Rally, 2nd September 2006

A large number of members of the public turned out on a very windy & damp afternoon to hear speakers at a rally organised by District Councillor Mary Wilkinson and Harriett Baldwin. Following an introduction by Mary, Harriett Baldwin (who is the candidate for West Worcestershire Conservatives at the next general election) spoke passionately about the closure of the public conveniences in Lower High Street by Malvern Hills District Council.

Other speakers included Peter Webb (Tourism & Trade Vice-Chairman), Richard Hannah (Chairman of the Folk Festival), an ex-Mayor from Solihull, and a couple of liberal democrats. The latter pair were not well received by the public, one of whom expressed her feelings by swiping at one of them with her stick, much to the enjoyment of the crowd!

Earlier, Peter Webb and his wife Rosemary, had visited all the businesses in town and obtained signatures from everyone on a 'Save our Loos' poster (full poster at the bottom of the page.
