MHDC could not open the loos for the Festival 'as the water was turned off'. So, they instructed the Street Scene Manager (who was the only one in the office at the time) at about 9.30 this morning, to get 3 portaloos. He rang several companies, none of whom had any available at such short notice. So, another company sent a vehicle to Badminton to pick up three and bring them here. They were to arrive at about 4.30pm and placed on the road facing the closed loos. How much is this going to cost the ratepayer?!

At about 5.30pm it was discovered that the 3 portaloos had been spotted in the tunnel to Fishmeadow. The original instruction had been for them to be placed 'under the bridge', ie near the Plough Inn. Still, technically they were 'under the bridge', just the wrong one...

They were rounded up and placed in Lower High Street later in the evening.

The word farcical comes to mind.
