Upton Toilets to ReopenThe Upton Upon Severn toilets are scheduled to be reopened on Friday, June 22 by Malvern Hills District Council Leader, Serena Croad and Chairperson, Sue Gill. The toilets were closed in spring 2006 at the same time as those in Market Street, Tenbury and Edith Walk, Malvern. Work to reopen all the toilets is currently underway and Upton will be the first to be refurbished and redecorated in time for the annual jazz festival which begins the same day. Malvern Hills District Council Leader, Serena Croad, said: “Reopening the toilets is a priority because it is important to the people of Upton. It‘s also a clear indication that our new administration is listening to what people want and will help them get things done. “We will be reopening the toilets in Malvern and Tenbury during late June.” Malvern Hills District Council Chairperson, Sue Gill, said: “I am pleased to see that Upton has been allowed to retain its heritage because its buildings like this that have a major impact on the town's character.” The cost of repair, refurbishing and redecorating the three public conveniences is estimated at £33,650. This will be met from within the existing capital provision for refurbishment of public conveniences. There will also be £24,800 transferred from the priorities budget allocation to fund the costs of operation and servicing during the current municipal year |
