From Peter Webb, Chairman of Upton Tourism & Trade Association, 19th June 2007
There is to be a formal opening ceremony for our Lower High Street public conveniences. After an eighteen-month battle with the District Council the people of Upton upon Severn have at last prevailed and the toilets, now refurbished, are to re-open. Tim Perry, The Mayor of Upton and Serena Croad, the Leader of The Malvern Hills District Council will conduct the ceremony. As the re-opening coincides with the start of the famous Upton Jazz Festival a jazz band will accompany the opening. A ribbon will be cut and a champagne toast will celebrate the victory for common sense and the result of a democratic vote. All the shopkeepers of Upton, members of The Tourism and Trade Association and the people of Upton will be invited and it is hoped a good crowd will attend. |
