November 11th 2007Remembrance Day started with wreaths being laid in front of the Memorial Hall. All the groups who were taking part in the parade mustered in Backfields Lane before marching to the Parish Church, led by Upton Youth Band. A very moving service was held in the Church, with Mayor Tim Perry reading out the names of soldiers from Upton who were lost during World War I and World War II. Following the service, the parade marched to the War Memorial on the Old Churchyard, where wreaths were laid by the Royal British Legion and many groups from the town. A lot of children took part in the ceremonies, which is always good to see. |
