Highways Magazine Excellence Awards

Further success for the Upton viaduct project arrived last week, as Worcestershire County Council scooped the award for "Most Innovative Local Authority" at the Highways Magazine Excellence Awards held in London.

At a dinner at the Institute of Civil Engineers in Westminster, the scheme was praised as a very impressive entry."The timescale in which the project was delivered appealed to the judges' sense of delivery and a very pragmatic approach was clearly demonstrated", they commented.

This national award was for the Local Authority that had developed - through collaborative work with consultants, contractors and local communities - innovative schemes and methods, coupled with a willingness to work with the communities they serve.

Highways Manager Jon Fraser, who accepted the award on behalf of the County Council, said, "We are delighted that the excellent work at Upton has again been recognised and rewarded".
