The official opening of the viaduct took place today. In attendance were the Chairman of Worcestershire County Council Mr Derek W Prodger MBE, and Cabinet members, Upton Town Mayor Mr John Thompson and Councillors, representatives from Ripple Parish Council, District Councillors, Malvern Hills District Council, the MD of Norwest Holst Mr Michael Geffin, Halcrow, Mr Harry Gaunt and members of the public. For the first time in weeks we had a shower of rain!

The opening was performed by Mr Prodger. The Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) awards were presented to Mr Prodger. The attendees then adjourned to the White Lion Hotel for a buffet lunch.
